The computer knows the phone is there because I can see it in 'my computer' under other devices.īasically all I want to do i plug my phone in and get online, so then I can get rid of my Sierra wireless next g usb thing (which has been unplugged during all the troubleshooting), and just use data from my phone handset. My mobile data is on, I downloaded HTC sync and HTC sync manager, have tried USB debugging in both on and off. I use Mozilla firefox so did some sort of sync thing with thier app, i opened a HTC account, and have restarted my phone and my computer many times.

So i downloaded the user guide and learnt that i need to install HTC sync, ok still no joy, so called telstra, 2 hours on the phone and still not fixed, called HTC support, 2 hours with them still not resolved. Purchased my first ever smart phone on the weekend, I chose the HTC one XL as I was assured that I would be able to very simply plug it into my computer (desktop not laptop) and get online using my mobile data. But it did come up and the sync function worked (I imported my I tunes library to Sync manager and then the phone).Īs a word of caution, go to the Sync settings to make sure that you are syncing what you want to sync to avoid bringing unwanted media, all I wanted was music and it started to bring in all of my photos.
It took a little time to respond so don't expect it to appear immediately. Also the sync settings in the menu bar is active.

In case you don't know how to do this, on your phone go to settings, developer options, (you get a warning to be careful which you can pass through by pressing OK), then on debugging activate the USB debugging radio button (another warning to be careful appears which you can pass through by pressing OK) and then in the bottom right hand corner of HTC sync manager you will see the phone identified and on the left side a sync icon. at least it worked for me, namely by turning on the debug option for the USB in the developer mode. If you hear of the fix in Telstra then please advise here for everyone. SHort of doing that I'll forward images to myself via email until patch is in. I'm playing wit Bluetooth now as an alternative. I can't do anything with them, the copy and import functions aren't active and I don't even have a 'Connect to PC' option under setting any longer. I recently installed the HTC Sync Manager as advised in blogs and it shows my HTC connected and images under 'Gallery' as mentioned in previous. I would just select the images in the HTC folder and drag-and-drop.

My HTC was listed as a device and could be accessed as such before the latest Android Update to 4.1.1. Like the PC and My Computer, 'Finder' in Mac has 'Devices' list at the top-left by default and usually picks up any attached devices. I've used both PC and Apple architecture over the years and must admit that Apple usually gets around most connection problems but in this case HTC (Android) has stumped them.
